Saturday Bush Walk

Originally we'd planned to go bush walking on our 19th month but wet weather forecasts took us bowling in Randwick and 2nd hand books shopping..
So last Saturday Mr Broc surprised me by saying that he'll take me bush walking in blue mountains...

We arrived a little late after having a little stop-over at book kitchen to pick up some yummy bacon and egg rolls and some coffee..

We finally started our walk at 3:25pm. I tried to take a picture of the map.. Its really hard to see anything but Mr Broc was really ambitious and wanted to do the National trail walk. And so we set off.
The first level of falls we were aiming for: the first part of the hike was downwards and was pretty steep..could still be silly and take many photos.. thinking to myself is there a lift at the end to take us back up!? I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, it was breath-taking.. mid point of the falls. There were many people taking the liberty to wade and even swim in pools at the bottom of the falls. MrBroc and I at our first check point, this photo is funny, I caught him in the middle of a sneeze must be the spray coming from the falls. Mr Broc sees a sign " for expert walkers- steep stairs"
Mr Broc: let's go there
Me: No
Mr Broc: c'mon dear let's go
Me: No
Mr Broc: it'll be fun, its not that hard I promise.
Me: No

We went down to the bottom of the falls down this steep track. They actually put up signs for you, that at the steepest point of the climb you have to go down facing inwards. We encountered steel ladder like contraptions that help us get down and even a point where you need to use a rope to climb down the rock backwards.. So much for my " No"

Well in the end, it was worth it, the sight of the bottom of the falls a different world, rainbows forming at the water surface where the falls hit.
Mr Broc strikes a pose: Behind Mr Broc, rainbow water..
We had a nice 20min water break before climbing back up and continuing with the trail walk.
So cute with my 1L tank. Mr Broc looking back on the waterfall we had explored, this part is the walk that snakes around the mountain edge. Going deeper into the mountain-side. More sights along the way, Mr broc told me this it the weeping rock, not quite another waterfall but it drips along the way, very refreshing in fact cools you down on a hot summer day when the water evaporates. I found the way the water fell from this one fascinating as the water droplets seem to fall like a sheet, very slowly, can't quite justify it in a still photo. Then we reached the inner part of the mountain, discovered more waterfalls, the last one here was really beautiful. Didn't take any more photos from here on, too tired on our way up.. the whole hike took us 3hrs.. and we were famished by the time we reached the car, good thing I packed some yummy chicken puffs, grapes, rice crackers and cold Christmas tea.

Got home at 9pm...my room never looked so good.
